Our 28th Traditional Solidarity Night Brought the Maritime Community Together

The 28th edition of the Traditional Solidarity Night, organized annually by the ITU Maritime Faculty Alumni Social Assistance Foundation (DEFAV), brought together esteemed members of the maritime community on the evening of May 24 at the Fenerbahçe Faruk Ilgaz Facilities in Kalamış. The event was marked by a strong spirit of unity, connecting different generations within the maritime sector and creating unforgettable memories.

Distinguished guests included ITU Maritime Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Özcan Arslan, former IMO Permanent Representative of Turkey and Ambassador Suat Hayri Aka, Vice President of the Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association (GISBIR) Orhan Torlak, Cemalettin Şevli, and representatives from various maritime NGOs, along with student representatives from ITU Maritime Faculty.

DEFAV Chairman Capt. Koray Karagöz delivered the opening speech, sharing key updates on the foundation’s scholarship and social assistance programs, and invited the community to continue supporting these impactful efforts. The evening also featured a plaque ceremony to honor organizations that contributed to the acquisition of the Gündüz Aybay Maritime and Education Center for the foundation.

The event was hosted by Melis Ünal and concluded with a memorable performance by the renowned band Yeni Türkü, leaving attendees with a night full of music and joy.

Etkinliğin açılış konuşmasını gerçekleştiren DEFAV Yönetim Kurulu Başkanı Kapt. Koray Karagöz, vakfın yürüttüğü burs ve sosyal yardım faaliyetlerine dair bilgiler paylaşarak, camiaya destek çağrısında bulundu. Gecede ayrıca, Gündüz Aybay Denizcilik ve Eğitim Merkezi’nin vakfa kazandırılmasına katkı sağlayan kurumlara teşekkür plaketleri takdim edildi.

Sunuculuğunu Melis Ünal’ın üstlendiği gece, sahne alan Yeni Türkü konseri ile sona erdi ve katılımcılara müzik dolu keyifli anlar yaşattı.
