We see the interest of our alumni
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Özcan Arslan, Dean of Istanbul Technical University’s Faculty of Maritime, expressed pride in the fact that graduates do not forget the institutions that gave them their profession. Arslan noted the contribution of former graduates to the renewal of the school, emphasizing the importance of solidarity and the sacrifices made by elder siblings for their younger counterparts.
Their happiness is our happiness
Müh. İlker Meşe, President of the Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Maritime Alumni Social Aid Foundation (DEFAV), expressed great happiness over the dedication to life and joy shown by two very important doyens in the maritime sector. Meşe highlighted the pleasure derived from the time spent by these elders with students and alumni, likening them to guiding beacons that protect us from dangers.
Our dormitory is the center of brotherhood and camaraderie.
Mr. Meşe said the following: ‘We all know them, but today we invited two important elder brothers, alumni of this school, to introduce themselves to you and our students. They didn’t refuse us and are here with us. We thank them sincerely. Before bringing them onto the stage, we have another thank you. As you know, we operate our dormitory as a foundation within our faculty. The establishment date of our foundation is March 26, 1995. The date we started managing our dormitory is October 3, 2012. During this time, we have experienced the joy of fulfilling our duty by providing scholarships to hundreds of teachers and academics, as well as educational support to the families and children of our colleagues lost at sea.’
‘With our DEFAV dormitory, we aim to further develop our mission of brotherhood and sisterhood, and contribute to the development of aspiring naval officers by setting a good example for them. I want to emphasize that we never leave any aspiring naval officer with unresolved issues. Our doors are always open to those who cannot find internships, ships, or who are facing difficulties or problems.
